The Alumni Brothers of Delta Epsilon met for the annual meeting of the Delta Epsilon Alumni Association and the Delta Epsilon Foundation at the Newberry College Homecoming weekend on Oct 10, 2015. Many of the Active Chapter Brothers and new Pledges joined the group. David Jolly, Vice President of the Foundation, called the meeting to order at 2 pm in front of Wiles Chapel. Tyler Hook, No l, provided a status of the Chapter including GPA, RUSH results, philanthropy events and condition of the House in the Woods. The Chapter issued 15 bids in fall Rush and 14 where accepted plus one open bid giving the active chapter 15 new pledges. This is great news for the Chapter since that will almost double the size. A Run/Walk is planned by the Chapter on Nov 14 to benefit MDA. They urge everyone’s support.
New officers for the Association were elected. David Jolly was elected President, Charles Worley as Vice President along with Russell Laffitte remaining as Treasurer and Woody Cornwell as Secretary.
The $50,000 challenge made at the “Older, Old South” at High Hampton Inn in Aug of 2014 has netted pledges of 72% of the goal with 85% already collected. The Treasurer announced the mortgage on the House in the Woods has been paid off. David Jolly and Charles Worley officially burned the mortgage for the house.
Hap Pearce explained the function of the Foundation and the formation of a Board to conduct business as the Foundation. The Board is to be composed of five Alumni who will in turn select the President. All present were asked to let Woody Cornwell know if they would be interested in serving on the Board. Within the next couple week the Board members will be firmed up and communicated via email to all DE Alumni.
